The 575M Maranello is Ferrari’s V12-powered front-engine high-performance GT sports car. The 1997 550 Maranello marked the return to classic Ferrari form—a berlinetta (coupe) powered by a V12 engine driving the rear wheels. For 2002, the 550 Maranello became the 575M Maranello with the 575 representing the 5.75-liter engine and the letter M an abbreviation for Modificata or modified, representing numerous improvements, including Ferrari's first use of the F1 transmission teamed with a V12 engine.
